Help for Homeowners Facing Foreclosure this Saturday, March 14, 2009 in Watsonville

This free event hosted by the City of Watsonville and provided by several local government and non-profit agencies will give information about:
foreclosure options for homeowners,
free and low-cost resources available to local homeowners,
reporting fraud and avoiding “rescue” scams,
and emotional support and human services for families facing foreclosure and eviction.

Saturday, March 14th, 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Watsonville Civic Plaza Community Room, 275 Main St., 4th Floor, Watsonville, CA 95076.

Parking is free. Spanish translation will be available.

Free Legal Advice for Homeowners Facing Foreclosure and Fraud
is available By Appointment Only on the day of the event. Low to moderate income residents of Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties may contact the Watsonville Law Center at (831) 722-2845 to request an appointment for free legal advice about foreclosure, foreclosure rescue scams, and related issues.

Appointments for legal services must be made before Saturday, March 14th. No legal services can be provided on Saturday without a prior appointment.

Note: Solicitors are not welcome at this event and will be asked to leave.

Vote for WCCC Members for Community Visa Award

The Santa Cruz Community Credit Union’s “Community Visa” program gives cash awards to selected local nonprofits chosen by the Community Visa credit card holders.
I was informed by WCCC member Santa Cruz Community Credit Union Ventures that they and Women’s Crisis Support/Defensa de Mujeres have been nominated for the Community Visa program this year.

Free Legal Help with Consumer Telecom Issues

Announcing Free Legal Help with Consumer Telecom Issues
(Problems with the Phone Company)

The Watsonville Law Center is now providing free legal advice clinics for low-income Spanish-speaking consumers who need help with telephone-related legal issues. These new services are available for four months, now through February 2008.

We can provide legal assistance with billing disputes, charges for unauthorized calls, unauthorized changes to long-distance services, early termination fees, debt collection disputes, identity theft, and many other issues.
If you have low-income, Spanish-speaking clients with these problems, please invite them to contact the Watsonville Law Center at (831) 722-2845.

The Watsonville Law Center also provides free legal clinics for low-income residents of Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito Counties in both English and Spanish (other languages may be accommodated on request) helping with legal issues including:
Workers’ Compensation, Wage Claims, Consumer and Credit/Debt/Identity Theft
Issues, and Criminal Record Clearance.

For Santa Cruz County CalWORKS participants we also provide assistance with Child Custody and Visitation issues (a referral from the participant’s CalWORKS case manager is required for the Child Custody and Visitation Clinic).
