Volunteers Needed for Project SCOUT’s Tax Assistance Program

We Can Only Succeed with Volunteers Like You!

As a volunteer tax preparer you will be part of a tremendous effort that brings money into the homes of low income families. This income helps families pay bills and even reduce debt.

Make a difference with the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC): Each tax return completed by a volunteer can raise a working family’s income by up to $4,800!

No professional experience needed: If you can do your own taxes, you can learn to do someone else’s taxes! All volunteers receive free IRS training and certification.

Flexible Hours: You can volunteer daytime, evenings and/or weekends.

Festival of Compassion

Join us this coming Saturday for a Festival of Compassion – one day to check out/check in with compassionate communication in all areas of life – with self, family, work and even politics. Our skilled and versatile trainers provide engaging hands-on examples and exercises to apply Nonviolent Communication (NVC) in every situation for more satisfying outcomes.

We have reduced fees of $25 to $75 (sliding scale – no one turned away for lack of funds) in hopes that you will bring all your friends and family and tell your neighbors and coworkers!

Workshop topics include:

  • What’s it all About? NVC principles
This session, aimed at beginners to NVC, but meaningful for all levels, will explore how the principles of NVC can guide us. We’ll play around with assumptions and intentions, and how these apply in your life, work and relationships.
  • Emotional Fluency
Emotions carry vital information that empower us to make choices in alignment with our truest self.  They are an integral part of our innate guidance system, directly linked to our creative source. Come and discover how to access and understand your emotions and discover the wisdom and messages they carry.
  • NVC in a Room all by Yourself
The way we treat ourselves is perhaps the most critical application of NVC. If we are internally violent toward ourselves, it is difficult to be genuinely compassionate toward others. In this workshop, we will be translating self-judgements and inner demands to a more life-serving language.
  • Requests Can Change Your Life!
Learn and practice the skills and principles of requests. It’s not about “nice-ness” & “please” – it’s about detaching from expectations & demands; and fostering cooperation & respect

Saturday, October 9th 9:30am-6pm
$25-75 suggested sliding scale
