Program: La Manzana Community Resources (LMCR)
The LMCR is a center where Watsonville area families can find resources of value to them. The purpose of the LMCR is to promote families, in all of their diverse cultural and economic forms, through empowerment and problem prevention. The governance, administration and work of the LMCR are based on the Principles of Family Support. Therefore, the LMCR applies practices that build on family strengths and participation, affirms and values diversity, and fosters collaboration between organizations.
Position Description:
Under the general supervision of the Community Bridges CEO, is responsible for the administration, coordination, supervision, fund development and fiscal control of the La Manzana Community Resources.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the development & planning, implementation, management and supervision of the La Manzana Community Resources (LMCR) program and center.
- Supervises staff, contractors and volunteers, ensuring a family-friendly environment is maintained in all programs and services.
- Promotes an environment conducive to full communication, participation, cooperation and collaboration to maximize LMCR goals and objectives. Communicates effectively and respectfully with people from different racial, ethnic and cultural groups and from different backgrounds and lifestyles.
- Responsible for fostering a spirit of inter-agency collaboration in working with the LMCR governance structure, in collaboration with all partners, staff, and other groups as appropriate.
- As appropriate, seeks counsel and assistance from standing committees, partners, and key volunteers. Provides them with information, recommendations and assistance on ways to improve and/or expand LMCR programs and operations.
- Develops and monitors the program budget and supervises the preparation of a variety of periodic and special reports regarding program activities and contracts in a timely manner in partnership with the program’s Grants Analyst and program coordinators. Takes the lead on service integration activities.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of family focused programs and activities. Participates in and actively supports center-bases events and activates.
- Responsible for focused services and advocacy efforts that strengthen underrepresented individuals and communities in the Watsonville area.
- Responsible for implementation and oversight of program(s) evaluation that includes participants, staff and partners.
- In coordination with Community Bridges Development department, responsible for effective public relations outreach and materials that promote and enhance LMCR services with the media, community organizations, the business sector, government, and the general public.
- Responsible for an effective advocacy with public officials and the community; responsible for research and submission of grant proposals; manages community fund-raising campaigns in collaboration with co-located partners and other family resource centers in the county.
- Participates in statewide and local planning and advocacy efforts aimed at maintaining and/or developing and/or expanding family services as appropriate.
- Participates in Community Bridges’ administrative responsibilities, Including Management Team, utilizes Community Bridges policies and procedures effectively.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Of management techniques, including program development, implementation, facilitation and staff supervision;
- Of methods of early childhood education, child nutrition and family support practice;
- Of effective fundraising and financial management;
- Of budget monitoring, record keeping and report preparation;
- Of building and managing collaborative projects that include systems change;
- Of technological resources;
- Of working cooperatively and effectively with other agency staff members, community organizations, parents, volunteers, and the public, including people from different racial, ethnic and cultural groups, and from different backgrounds and lifestyles.
EDUCATION AND EXPERTISE:
- Any combination of experience and education, which provides the skills, knowledge and abilities listed, may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain these qualifications would be:Bachelor or Master’s degree in community studies, social work, early childhood education, and/or a supervision permit or a related field; and three to five years of responsible administrative experience.
- Candidates will have proven ability in fundraising and grant writing and a successful history in the management of a collaborative program. Experience in human services work and knowledge of needs in Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito counties Desirable.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish required.
RATE OF PAY AND HOURS:
Pay rate negotiable depending upon education and experience. Salary range between $35K and $50K. 40 hours per week.

First year: 12 vacation days and 14 holidays
Sick leave: Eight hours/month, with accrual based on 40 hour work week.
401(k) Retirement Plan: Agency matches employee contribution up to 1% of annual salary upon completion of one year of employment, effective during open enrollment period.
