WCS~DdM Peer Counseling Training

Women’s Crisis Support~Defensa de Mujeres is holding its next state-certified peer counseling training for interns and volunteers May 1 – June 2, 2007. Training sessions will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-9:30 (Aptos) and Saturdays 8:30-5 (Watsonville).

Topics include:
History of Violence Against Women, Understanding Domestic Violence, Child & Teen Sexual Abuse, Crisis Intervention & Listening Skills, Client Advocacy and Investigation Procedures, Overview of Sexual Assault & Sexual Assault Response Team, Law Enforcement & Sexual Assault, Santa Cruz District Attorney’s Office, Immigrant Women and the Legal System, Community Resource Panel and more..

Cowell Foundation, the Foundation Center is offering its most popular curriculum of free training programs to nonprofits in the Watsonville region (including Pajaro Valley). The day will include training on creating effective fundraising plans, researching foundation prospects, best practices in cultivating relationships with foundations and an opportunity to hear directly from grantmakers in the region about how to apply and current philanthropic trends. Participants will receive free copies of the Foundation Center’s popular books Securing Your Organization’s Future and Winning Proposals.
